Bhaitika Saait 2077, The second biggest festival of Nepal starting from Kartik Krishna Triodashi, Yamapanchak i.e. Tihar has started from Monday. The Nepal Panchang Adjudicating Committee has stated that Yamadipadan should start on Friday evening.

The committee has also stated that the new year should be celebrated on the day of Bhaitika on 16 November, according to the Nepal Samvat. He said that the decision was taken as per the scriptural promise to celebrate the New Year on the day of sunrise.
From this day Nepal Year 1140 begins. Bhai Puja and Kija Puja in Newari language are also performed on the 15th of November. As the second date is only till 6:18 pm on November 16, the committee is of the view that it will be scriptural to celebrate Bhaitika on November 16.
