First Car in Nepal -Currently, there are around 2.5 million vehicles in Nepal. However, many may not know about the first vehicle brought to Nepal and its history. When and how was the first car brought? It is hard to believe how many people hear and know this. Many may have heard interesting stories about it. Let’s talk about it today.

However, there was no light in the vehicle brought to Nepal.However, as Gehendra Shamsher himself was a scientist, he had installed lights in the car himself. It has been claimed in history that Veer Shamsher was the first Prime Minister to drive in Nepal. On the day of Indra Jatra, Rana Prime Minister Shri 3 Bir Shamsher is said to have boarded the first vehicle entering Nepal in a grand ceremony. However, it has been claimed in history that the vehicle had reached Chitwan in Nepal even before Gehendra entered Kathmandu. In the time of Chandra Shamsher, an Englishman had come to Kasara in Chitwan in a vehicle to hunt.

There is a history that when Prince Edward of the United Kingdom came to Chitwan Kasara from India in 1978 to go hunting, he brought his own vehicle with him.

After seeing his car, the Rana’s also greedily entered the car. The vehicle was brought to Kathmandu. A new road was dug from Birgunj in Parsa to Makwanpur Bhimfedi to bring vehicles to Kathmandu. Later, the general public carried the vehicle on their shoulders to Godamchaur in Kathmandu. According to history,  After the Tribhuvan Highway was connected to Kathmandu in 2013 BS, it was left to be carried on the shoulder. Otherwise, whatever vehicle was brought before that, it was all carried on the shoulders. It has been more than a century since vehicles entered Nepal.
